You Did Not Want For Joy

‘You Did Not Want For Joy’ is Carolyn Sampson and Matthew Wadsworth’s third album together, featuring folk songs and ballads, as well as songs by Dowland, Campion, Purcell and Britten, plus a new commission by Nico Muhly – a setting of the text from Hildegard von Bingen’s ‘O viridissima virga’.

Purcell recording wins BBC Music Magazine's Recording of the Year 2020

BBC Music Magazine has awarded the Signum release of Purcell’s King Arthur directed by Paul McCreesh, Recording of the Year 2020.

The recording features Carolyn alongside Anna Dennis, Mhairi Lawson, Rowan Pierce, Jeremy Budd, James Way, Roderick Williams, and Ashley Riches, accompanied by the Gabrieli Players.
